Events Chairperson Melissa Bassett reports that plans for our Opening Night Gala are underway.
Carmen Argamasilla, a member of the EAC, will be chairing this event. Carmen is the Director of Red Fox Public Relations. We are so very fortunate to have Carmen on our committee and chairing this most important event for the CGC.
A great evening is planned that will include closure of a part of Aragon Avenue.
A Big Band conducted by famed gold record award winner arranger and composer, Michael Lewis, dancing, large screen image projection (courtesy of Cinevision Atlanta, Georgia), Theatrical Lighting and Power Generation (Provided by Cine-Tech Miami, Florida), Special VIP lounge area. A high end fund raising auction and more to be announced.
We are asking each board member and EAC/Committee member to be responsible for inviting 5 couples or 10 guests. We estimate a crowd of about 300-400 people will attend. This will be a fund raiser and ticket prices will range from $75-250.00.
We will be trying to arrange for 3 Auction items that sell in the range of $10,000.00 each. More details will be coming from Carmen on this event as it evolves. The cinema will start a regular daily schedule of films the day after our Gala.

December 2009 Newsletter
Hello everyone:
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
We are anticipating that the completion of the heavy construction and shell finishes the second week of January.
After that we will begin to install the seating, screen, projection and sound systems.
Funding is in place for all the Major components of the Cinema fit out with the exception of our Café and Snack Bar. As soon as funding is available for this purpose we will complete the construction.
We are looking to open in Late February. This is not firm and will be based upon when the “City” actually turns the space over to us.
CITY TO RECEIVE $43,000.00 for CGC
On Tuesday, December 29th, Steven Krams, President of the CGC presented a check for $21,500 to the City of Coral Gables. This represents the cost of items of construction that were not included in the original contract for the cinema. These were called “deductive alternates”.
This $21,500 check was matched by the Coral Gables Community Foundation with another $21,000.00 for a total of $43,000.00.
The CGC is grateful to Mayor Don Slesnick and the Perrin Fund for offering this match through the Coral Gables Community Foundation.
